"As a woman, manager in healthcare delivery, and proud member of the Métis Nation, I acknowledge the complex interplay of my identity, experiences, and privilege. My upbringing amidst economic struggles and my journey as a single mother have instilled in me a deep understanding of resilience and the importance of accessible healthcare.

My middle-class status, achieved through education and hard work, has afforded me privileges that many do not have. However, my experiences of marginalization and adversity have also sensitized me to the struggles faced by marginalized communities, particularly Indigenous peoples.

As a healthcare manager, I am committed to addressing health inequities and promoting equitable access to quality care for all communities. My Métis heritage and lived experiences inform my passion for culturally safe care, trauma-informed practice, and addressing the social determinants of health.

I recognize that my position of authority may also carry unintended biases and privilege. "

Hello,

a bit about me:

My name is Darri O'Neill, I am a Community Services Manager with the Northern Health Authority in Kitimat, British Columbia.

I am also a Certified Psychosocial Rehabilitation Recovery Practitioner (CPRRP) with PSR/RPC Canada. I love working with people, empowering the staff members I work with through collaborative leadership. I started on my most recent education journey in 2020, and have almost completed a Masters of Health Studies through Athabasca University. Through this E-Portfolio I hope to share some of my passion for health care, education and resources.
